Martina Cuevas CuevasBiographyMartina Cuevas Cuevas is a Spanish pianist and musicologist who has given solo concerts in Spain, the USA and the United Kingdom, where she recorded a CD and was broadcasted on the BBC as part of the Thallein Ensemble. At the moment she is undertaking a PhD at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire, aiming to uncover obscure female composers throughout history.
She has recently published an article on Ritmo magazine under the title Emma Chacón: El Impulso de su familia. Moreover, in May of 2025 she was invited as a guest speaker at the prestigious "Music and the Moving Image Conference" which took place at New York University. In her early years she amazed professionals around her, being the youngest student at her Conservatoire and winning several awards for her pianistic technique. In 2025, she graduated from a Master of Arts in Musicology at the University of Birmingham while being the recipient of a merit scholarship and in 2024, she graduated from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, where she obtained her Bachelor's degree in Music Performance after being awarded a Scholarship and being mentored by Alasdair Beatson. In the past she has studied at the Conservatorio Marcos Redondo in Spain with Blanca Samper Juárez and Fernando Villanueva, among others. She has received masterclasses from outstanding musicians such as John Thwaites, Daniel Browell, David Quigley, Katharine Lam, Robert Markham, Mikhail Kazakevich, Julian Jacobson and Peter Donohoe. Martina also has a broad experience accompanying ensembles such as the Birmingham Festival Chorus and the Birmingham Choral Union. She is currently working at Elmhurst Ballet School as a ballet pianist and a piano teacher. |
